Regional Anesthesia in Children
Course Objectives: Upon completion of this program the learner will be able to:
- analyze the pharmacology of local anesthetics and adjuncts used for regional anesthesia, along with the management of local anesthetic toxicity;
- list the indications, risks and complications associated with the utilization of regional anesthesia techniques in pediatric patients;
- state the attributes of using regional anesthesia for chronic pain;
- demonstrate how ultrasound guidance is utilized for the performance of regional anesthesia techniques in children; and
- state administrative concerns involved in the successful integration of regional anesthesia into acute pain management.
