Ultrasound-Guided Regional Anesthesia
Course Objectives: At the completion of the program, the participant should be able to:
- Discuss the basic fundamental of ultrasound physics and instrumentation.
- Explain the advantages of using ultrasound-guided nerve block techniques.
- Identify the topographic and cross-sectional brachial plexus anatomy.
- Demonstrate imaging techniques for performing ultrasound-guided upper extremities anesthesia using interscalene, supraclavicular, infraclavicular and axillary approaches on live models.
- Demonstrate imaging techniques for performing ultrasound-guided lower extremities anesthesia using femoral, popliteal and saphenous approaches on live models.
- List the indications and applications for performing ultrasound-guided central venous catheter placement and apply skills using inanimate phantoms.
- Increase knowledge and confidence to perform and/or interpret examinations.
