Bedside Ultrasound in the ICU - WORLD PREMIERE
This 2 day seminar will provide participants with important clinical knowledge about ICU ultrasonography and significant, practical, hands-on experience under the supervision of highly skilled sonographers, cardiologists, and experienced, front-line intensivists.
The three critical components of ultrasonography-- Knowledge Base, Image Interpretation, and Image Acquisition-- will be presented with the support of a cutting edge multimedia curriculum comprised of hundreds of 3-D animations, clips and graphics.
The course will cover "goal-directed" cardiac ultrasonography ("FOCUS," the Focused Cardiac Ultrasound Study) with emphasis on LV size and function, RV size and function, pulmonary embolism, cardiac arrest, hemodynamics, pericardium and tamponade, and fluid status and responsiveness. General Critical Care Ultrasonography topics will emphasize assessment of central and peripheral vessels, pleural space and lung (pleural fluid and pneumothorax), and abdominal space (free fluid, abdominal aorta, and urinary bladder).
The hands-on portion of the course will, in a WORLD PREMIERE, allow participants to practice scanning acute cardiac pathologies such as LV dysfunction, RV dysfunction, and tamponade on unique, high-fidelity, transthoracic echocardiography simulators.
