Course Objectives: Upon completion of this program the learner will be able to:
- Review the fundamental physics of diagnostic ultrasound equipment
- Evaluate how transducer deficiencies affect image quality
- Describe transducer and image orientation
- Identify optimal patient positioning; standard echocardiography planes and associated transducer placement
- Compare advantages and disadvantages of TEE and TTE
- Describe a practical approach to echocardiographic evaluation of shock
