STAT CARE Ultrasound for Critical Care Physicians

Course Objectives: At the completion of the program, the participant should be able to:

  • Discuss the basics of how ultrasound works.
  • Explain the orientation to human anatomy and the relationship to the Ultrasound probe
  • Discuss probe preparation for invasive procedures.
  • Perform ultrasound evaluations of the heart, selected arteries, solid organs and demonstrate the ability to scan the chest, abdomen, orbit, and extremities.
  • Recognize normal and abnormal sonographic anatomy in the eye, chest, abdomen, soft tissue and extremities.
  • Demonstrate and apply ultrasound guided vascular access on an ultrasound phantom.
  • Explain ultrasound applications useful in managing the critically ill, or unstable patients.
