Ultrasound Workshop for Critical Care

Course Description:
The Course will be delivered in 1/3 theory and 2/3 practical sessions. It is designed as a refresher for candidates with prior ultrasound experience

Course Objectives:
• Understand the physical principles and artifacts of ultrasound
• Gain experience in navigating the ultrasound system and its features
• Demonstrate proficiency in performing and interpreting basic bedside ultrasound scans
• Understand practical applications and limitations of focused ultrasound scans in the assessment of abdominal and pleural fluid collections, trauma and abdominal aortic aneurysms
• Demonstrate basic practical proficiency in vascular access through experience gained in the use of ultrasound phantoms
• Gain a basic understanding of cardiac ultrasound principles
