Ultrasound Workshop for Intensive Care

The Course will be delivered in 1/3 theory and 2/3 practical sessions. It is designed for intensivists with little or no prior ultrasound experience.

At the conclusion of this course you will be able to:
• Understand the physical principles and artifacts of ultrasound
• Understand basic Doppler physics principles and Doppler artifacts
• Gain experience in navigating the ultrasound system and its features
• Demonstrate proficiency in performing and interpreting basic bedside ultrasound scans
• Understand practical applications and limitations of abdominal and pleural fluid collection assessment
• Demonstrate basic practical proficiency in vascular access through experience gained through the use of ultrasound phantoms
• Understand key concepts of haemodynamic assessment in the ICU
• Gain a basic understanding of cardiac ultrasound principles
