Advanced Cardiac Ultrasound
Course Objectives: Upon completion of this program the learner will be able to:
- Discuss advanced techniques for assessment of valvular disease including 3D imaging and quantification.
- Explain and apply advanced techniques including 3D for evaluation of left ventricular systolic function.
- Increase knowledge base in stress echo testing including supine exercise bike, hemodynamic assessment and correlation with other techniques.
- Discuss how a comprehensive TEE exam is utilized for potential cardiac source of emboli.
- Describe the role of echocardiography for post surgical evaluation of heart valves, CHF and cardiac intervention procedures.
- Explain the correlation of complementary cardiac imaging modalities such as CT and nuclear medicine.
- Increase participant's knowledge to better perform and/or interpret cardiac ultrasound exams.
- Apply the information discussed in a clinical setting, ideally under supervised conditions until an acceptable level of proficiency has been achieved.
