Basic Emergency Ultrasound
Course Description:
This is a one-day Introductory Course in Emergency Ultrasound.
This course, is designed to meet the requirements of the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine's (ACEM) 'Guidelines for Minimum Criteria for an Ultrasound Workshop' and to cover the content of the Basic Module of the Certificate in Clinician Performed Ultrasound (Emergency) awarded by the Australasian Society for Ultrasound in Medicine.
The course content will include lectures on ultrasound physics and instrumentation, FAST and AAA. The practical component of the course will include scanning technique and normal anatomy in healthy volunteers and the recognition of intra-abdominal free fluid, pleural fluid and AAA in patient volunteers. Vascular access will be demonstrated and practiced using vascular access phantoms.
