Introduction to Diagnostic Musculoskeletal Ultrasound

Course Overview: The use of ultrasound for diagnostic and guided injection procedures will be reviewed. Scanning workshops and lectures are used to explain anatomy, pathology and scanning protocols of small and large joints. A low student instructor ratio is used to maximize scanning during the hands-on scanning sessions. Scanning phantoms will be used to practice

Course Objectives: Upon completion of this program the learner will be able to:

  • Describe the technique and protocols for performing a shoulder and knee ultrasound exam.
  • Identify sonographic appearance of normal anatomy and commonly seen pathology during musculoskeletal imaging.
  • Explain the use of ultrasound for guided interventions.
